Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter, at room temperature
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup chopped pecans
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
Directions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.Step 2
In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.Step 3
Gradually add the milk, mixing until combined.Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.Step 5
Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the pecans.Step 6
Transfer the batter into the greased baking dish.Step 7
In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, water, and maple syrup. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.Step 8
